Bio

Hardcore prokaryote nerd. I study sex of the bacterial variety. I also spent the past two years developing and teaching labs for high school AP Biology, Medical Microbiology, and Pathophysiology classes.

I’d love to find a mentor to give me a clue as to what happens after the PhD aqcuisition, but also would gladly impart knowledge on what grad schools are looking for in students.

Education

I have two B.S. (Microbiology, Genetics) from a Midwestern university. I’m now in my final years of PhD work in the Texas Medical Center. I study E. coli genetics, stress, and conjugation (bacterial sex).

Career

Oodles of basic microbiology lab work. I teach weekly at a local high school to bring in real science experiments to the students. I also spent a couple years on my grad school’s student recruitment committee.

Ugh, what another depressing example of the media jumping on quack science. I heard that antiperspirants increased risk of breast cancer, and for several years only bought the kind that (read more...)
